Accessibility Statement

PBES is committed to making our website usable for people of all abilities. We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA and treat accessibility as an ongoing part of how we design and build.

Standard

We use WCAG 2.1 Level AA as our reference standard. That includes readable color contrast, keyboard operability, descriptive link text, alternative text for meaningful images, semantic headings and landmarks, and support for assistive technologies such as screen readers.

What we've done

  • Semantic HTML with a single H1 per page and clear heading hierarchy.
  • Descriptive alt text on informative images; decorative images are marked as such.
  • Keyboard-navigable menus, forms, and interactive controls with visible focus states.
  • ARIA landmarks and labels on navigation, breadcrumbs, and dialogs.
  • Text sized in relative units so users can zoom without loss of content.
  • Color contrast checked against WCAG AA thresholds across the design system.

Known limitations

Some third-party embeds and legacy PDF documents may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We are working to remediate these and will replace or provide accessible alternatives on request.

Feedback and requests

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our site, need content in an alternative format, or want to report an issue, please contact us. We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within five business days.

Ongoing work

Accessibility is not a one-time project. We review new pages and components against our checklist, run automated scans, and factor in feedback from users of assistive technology.
